My Father Cigars is a family‑owned premium cigar company led by legendary Cuban‑born master blender José “Don Pepin” García and his son Jaime Garcia, known for bold, Cuban‑influenced Nicaraguan cigars and fully vertically integrated production in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Origins and family story
-
Don Pepin left Cuba for Miami and opened the small El Rey de los Habanos factory in Little Havana in 2003, making Cuban‑style, full‑bodied cigars that quickly gained acclaim and led to production for brands like Tatuaje, San Cristobal, and La Aroma de Cuba.
-
In 2008, Jaime secretly blended a cigar to honor his father—the original My Father—and its success prompted the family to adopt “My Father Cigars” as the company name and to build a new, larger factory in Estelí in 2009.
Factories, farms, and scale
-
Today the Garcias operate major facilities in Estelí under the My Father Cigars S.A. banner, plus additional operations in Honduras and a boutique Miami factory with a small team of rollers trained personally by Don Pepin.
-
Since buying and developing their own farms starting in 2008, the family has become essentially self‑sufficient in Nicaraguan tobacco, controlling seed, growing, curing, and aging, with annual production now exceeding 20 million cigars.
Style and reputation
-
My Father cigars are known for full‑bodied, robust flavor with strong Cuban influence: dense spice, peppery retrohale, rich earth, and layered sweetness, always with meticulous craftsmanship.
-
The brand is considered one of Nicaragua’s most respected producers, both for its own lines and for contract work on high‑profile brands such as San Cristobal and La Aroma de Cuba.
